Pictures from Abdolute Radio, Tim Shaw's show.

A selection of images from our visit to Absolute radio on the 9th May.

Tim was very impressed with James's Spiderman mask. Everyone thought that James was funnier without the mask. :~.)

Preparing for the Hope and Anchor 20th Feb

With the new CD recorded, edited, pressed, packaged and posted. Phew, mop the sweat from our brow.

It’s now time to blow the cobwebs of the kit in the garage, re string the guitars and get back to gigging. The first outing this year is to the Hope and Anchor in Islington, we have not played this venue before so we are not sure what to expect, although we are working with Bug Bear, who are an excellent promoter.

Next Wednesday (25th Feb) we are Headlining a Battle of the Bands final at Brunel University. Again, a new one for us, we have not played a University before, but we expect it to be a riot. Cheap booze! (Uni rates), we will find out for sure if they water down the beer.

We have been booked for private gig on the 7th March. Sounds really seedy, but it’s not. One of our sponsors is calling in a favour, and we are happy to thank them for their support. And all of the free booze, and the women, and the cash, and extra publicity, I thought we were doing this as a favour! More of these gigs please.

Actually, we want a wedding gig, no really. As you know, we dont do covers, and we are on the heavier side of rock. A wedding would be wicked, I can just see the expression on the face of the Bride’s Father as the happy couple start dancing to Cuter (when the sun goes down) lol :~) I am pissing my pants just thinking about it. And if you haven’t heard Cuter, you need to envisage this scenario and go and listen to the lyrics. Lol and lol louder.

More news and pics about gigs coming soon: We are negotiating a live performance on a National UK radio station in May. We are excited about that, big Cheshire grin :~) Tell you more next time.

We are negotiating several festivals in the summer, will keep you posted about those too. Now, back to digging the gear out of the garage, where's that spider catcher...

Packing the new EP for distribution

This weekend is the big pack and ship weekend. We will be packing all of the Phat n Phunky CD's and sending them to the press, radio stations and all of those fans that registered for a free CD on the website.  The house will become the hub of distribution. There will be more stuffing here than a supermarket shelf at Christmas. But hopefully we wont have an Turkeys.

If it snows, we will take time out to rebuild Frosty, the six foot snowman that we built on Monday. The weather warmed up a bit Monday evening and he sort of, slumped down to his left. Broke an arm and everything. Poor thing. We didnt decide if he was male or female, I suppose all snowmen are probaly asexual? Not much fun!

More updates coming soon.

10 days on and the CD graphics are complete

10 days on and the CD images and E.P. cover are almost complete. Thanks to Louisa at www.artbylaw.co.uk for turning this around so quickly.

We will start printing next week and send the copies out to all those that registered on our mailing list as promised. The rest, well, you will have to download a digital copy, but be quick, we are going to lock the free download once the agreements are in place with iTunes and the other digital distribution houses. Will provide more information about this soon.

For now we are trying to work out how to get pictures onto the blog and how to insert this blog to appear on our other social networking sites e.g. MySpace and FaceBook.

We are also well on our way to releasing our own well awaited website, designed by Front Man Mr Adam Sean Duff no less. Well done Adam it is looking great.

Back soon.

Choosing a title for your first EP and then the Bio!

First, there is the decision to set up a band, for fun, to play music with friends that think alike and who's company you enjoy. You realise that you have some chemistry going on and the music ain't half bad neither. So you decide to do some gigs, whoohoo, the audiences like you too. You get stiffed by one or two promoters, hey, that's okay, let them use us for profit we will :~( may the force be with them.

You decide to record your set in a professional studio at great expense, the producer is new, feeling his way around, excuse me don't feel me there, oh sorry, back to the story. Hhmm, yes the producer is a great bloke and does a fantastic job. You press a CD and everything sounds grooovy, until, what are we going to call it? And whilst we are at it, we need to write a professional Bio. Three blokes from Uxbridge, Ruislip, no, Uxbridge, no, Ruislip, whatever, playing Rock Music with Punk overtones and funky bass lines, says it all, but it wont cut it with the Journo's.

We recorded 6 tracks in 5 days, edited them in 3 days and mastered them in a couple of hours. Three weeks later and we still couldn't come up with a name or a Bio!! But, at last, we got there. Not the most, off the wall, name for an EP, Phat n Phunky, but it beats calling it "McFly with Attitude" or "nothing" And the Bio, thank God for Plagiarism..

And now, for the art work for the CD and cover, and publicity shots of the band! Aarrggghhhh!
